Responsibilities/Qualifications:

Alpine is currently searching for an experienced Field Hydrographer with at least 3-5 years experience (based on nature of experience) in conducting and/or supervising nearshore hydrographic projects. ACSM Hydrographer Certification or PLS a major plus. This is primarily a field position and the Candidate must be willing to travel, both domestically and internationally. This position will involve four to six months of field assignments per year. These assignments can be both short 2-day to 2-week long local and domestic projects and longer duration offshore and international projects. Field work can be both shore based and offshore based including 24-hour per day ship operations.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting field operations for hydrographic survey projects and performing data processing tasks both on board survey vessels and in the office.
  • Knowledge of the installation, calibration and operation of high resolution multi-beam and single beam systems a must.
  • Knowledge of data acquisition/processing software including QINSy, HYPACK and Caris is essential.
  • Knowledge of GPS and motion reference positioning equipment, calibration techniques and post processing is key. Experience with installing and operating RTK base stations and post processing using PPK techniques is very desirable.
  • Candidate must have experience acquiring direct read sound velocity and/or CTD data and processing the resulting information.
  • Candidate should have good writing skills and should be able to write preliminary reports and process and interpret data at least to the QA/QC stages.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or GIS a plus.
  • Observe and follow all company safety rules and procedures.
  • Execute work duties in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Work well while under supervision.
  • Able to meet deadlines and handle pressure.
