Alpine Ocean Seismic Survey, Inc. (Alpine), founded in 1957, provides industry and government with the technical expertise to plan, acquire and interpret scientific data from marine and freshwater environments. Company capabilities include geophysical, geotechnical, hydrographic, oceanographic, environmental and positioning services. Since our founding by a group of Lamont Doherty scientists over 60 years ago, Alpine has worked on well over 3,500 marine survey projects worldwide.
Alpine’s specialty is planning and implementing multidiscipline surveys in inland, estuarine, coastal and offshore environments. We support project owners, design engineers, environmental consultants and regulatory/government agencies. Our strength is the ability and willingness to provide our clients with a turnkey service, anywhere on the globe. Alpine’s involvement often starts at the planning/permitting stages and, depending on the project type, runs through the desk top study, field acquisition, delivery of reports and high quality data products, construction monitoring and ongoing maintenance and inspection phases. This capability is critical to insure accountability, proper data integration and cross checking throughout a project’s life cycle.
Alpine owns several vessels ranging from smaller trailered outboard and inboard shallow water survey launches to the 110’ R/V Shearwater and the 155’ ocean going R/V Minerva. Alpine also operates an extensive inventory of in-house equipment.
Of key importance to many of our clients is Alpine’s reputation of being able to quickly and efficiently mobilize third party vessels, whether it be in our own backyard or in some remote region of the world. The flexibility to either use our own vessels, or mobilize third party options, provides our clients with the most efficient and cost effective approach to conducting a survey, no matter what the conditions or geographic location.
Alpine can provide our customers with surveys in areas ranging from shallow waters to open ocean environments. Our range of services include:
By conducting both MMO and PAMS in conjunction, limiting factors such as poor weather conditions, background noise, non-acoustic animals or non-detectable vocalizations can be overcome, meaning your survey can be carried out during 24 hour operations, allowing a greater range of freedom in survey operations.
